Vegetarian Snacks
We love healthy snaks to take to school or work, but most weekday mornings, many of us are lucky if we have time to pour our coffee, much less pack a gorgeous homemade snack to take away. But that doesn’t mean that we are going to feed ourselves with junk.
Luckily, there’s no reason for any health-, planet-, and animal welfare–conscious person to resort to chicken nuggets, jerky, or yogurt when there are so many quick and easy vegan snack options for even the most finicky eaters. The following are some of our favorites:
• Cereal bars, which contain just whole grains and fruit—no added sugar and no cholesterol-laden milk
• Vegan crackers in fun shapes that will make others green with envy
• Chocolate bunnies (What else is there to say?)
• Fruit and nut bars that are packed with nutrients, about as unprocessed as you can get, and sweet enough to satisfy a mid-afternoon craving
• Fruit sticks, which each contain a serving of fruit but have no pesky processed sugars
• WholeSoy yogurt, which is a great source of calcium, protein, and healthy probiotics.
• Fresh fruit, such as pears and bananas.
• Grain Crispy Tenders, served as cold leftovers or warmed up, but either way, these little things rock our world and don’t contain any of the cholesterol of McNuggets
